04.24.05: Another Race another D.N.F.

Kennedy's day started off awesome. After a little practice the previous day, Kennedy was lapping in mid-high 40's. This is a very good and extremely competetive time. His times were close or equal to the current front runner in his class even though his motor seemed to be a little down on power. Kennedy is progressing well this season.

In the first Heat Kennedy started from 2nd place and finsihed in 2nd. There were no real surprises during this 5 lap event. In the next event, he started from the next to last postion in the 11th spot. He was in last place after the 1st turn, but was able to fight his way back to 5th postion in 5 laps. There were 12 participants in the Kid Kart class this weekend, so there was a fair amount of passing that took place.

For the Final Race Kennedy started in the 4th postion. He got a very good start and was in 2nd place after turn 1. At the exit of turn 2 Kennedy suddenly spun on fluid on the track from a previous shifter kart accident and ended up facing backwards on the track. In an instant, another kart hit his kart and in doing so ended Kennedy's race. The frame of the kart was damaged, the spindle was bent as were the steering shaft and tie rods. It was a very disappointing end to a very promising day. The kart is being repaired and Kennedy is looking forward to getting on the track again.
