04.09.06: KENNEDY WINS THE 4TH ROUND OF THE SWRC AT IRON ROCK!!!!!!!!!!
Kennedy wins for the 1st time and does it at the regional level. What a weekend!!! What a race.
The weekend started off good with Kennedy putting in semi-competitve times in practice. As he learned the track, the times came down and became more consistent. On Saturday everything started well with Kennedy qualifying 2nd for the pre-final. On the out lap for the pre-final some of the competitors were racing and Kennedy was hit on the right front tire and spun. He came to his grid position and got an excellent start. He was in 1st place by the 1st corner and led the race for the 1st few laps. His laptime were slower than they had been and he was passed. On the foruth lap, he suffered a kinpin failure on the right front and the wheel came off. He was out of the race. We had to work fast and furious to get the kart repaired and ready to race again. In the final on Saturday, Kennedy started from the last position. He was able to make several passes and finished in 4th place.
On Sunday things went much better. We were able to make a chassis adjustment and the kart handled much better. Kennedy qualified in 3rd place. After examining the data we decided to make a change to the carburetor. In the pre-final Kennedy got another excellent start and was into 1st place by the 1st corner. This time he did not look back and led from start to finish. He started the final on Sunday from Pole Position. He ran an excellent race putting down the fastest lap of the weekend with a 44.05. Kennedy did an awesome job and put down some very smooth and consistent laps.
