04.03.05: Kennedy's day ends with a D.N.F. (Did Not Finish) during the main event for the race on Sunday. The day started off very well, with Kennedy lapping in the mid 41s during the practice sessions.
Kennedy drew a high number and started the first Heat race from 5th spot. He also had a slow start and was in 6th place on the first lap. In 5 laps he was able to move up 3 positions and close in on second place. He finished the race in 3rd position.
For the second Heat race the field was inverted and Kennedy started from the 3rd position. Kennedy had an excellent start and was able to pass the 2nd place driver during the race. He performed admirably and came across the finish line in 2nd.
For the Main race Kennedy started in third position. He battled with the second place driver for 4 laps before attempting another bold pass in the "esses". Coming out of the second turn Kennedy slid slightly, making contact with the second place driver. The tires of the two karts became entangled and both drivers ground to a halt. They were quickly seperated by the track workers and continued racing with Kennedy now down in 6th position. He was able to battle back into 3rd place. On the second to last lap of the race, Kennedy attempted to pass the second place driver and was bumped off the track. His sprocket hit the edge of the track dislodging his chain and ending his day.
Although Kennedy did not finish, he ran an excellent race and is showing consistent improvement with every race.
